I have been enjoying the start of the football season at home. Rangers gave Falkirk an almighty doing with a 7-2 victory and are top of the SPL. Sven Goran Erikkson is actually the best manager in the world, well good enough to take Man City to the top of the table. Seriously, he looks to have bought well and is melding the new signings with the talented 'yoofs' in the city squad. Liverpool look good and really deserved to beat dirty Chelsea on Sunday. Man Utd cannot score a goal despite having spent a gizzillion or so pounds over the summer.

However, the most alarming issues seems to be the apparently imminent sacking of Martin Jol. This is an extraordinarily shabby way to treat a Manager who seems to be a fine gentleman. How you get rid of your manager three games into the season? Especially when the last result was a 4-0 victory? To allow things to become this public is a disgrace.

Moreover, they are not just capricious, they are also incompetent. If figures at the club genuinely thought he lacked the qualities to take them into the top four this season, then why did they allow him to spend 40m quid this summer. I hope the bastards go down for this.
